Digital Mammography / Mammogram
According to the National Cancer Institute, the use of digital mammography aids in early detection of cancer in certain women younger than age 50, those who are premenopausalor perimenopausal, and those who have dense breast tissue.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Sutter Delta offers magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for patients whose circumstances require imaging in addition to mammography or ultrasound. MRI technology uses a combination of high-power magnets, radio waves and computers to produce high-resolution images of the body’s internal tissue.

Stereotactic Breast Biopsy
When an abnormal area in the breast is too small to be felt, a physician may order a stereotactic breast biopsy to obtain a sample of the tissue. For this procedure, a specially trained radiologist will use our advanced imaging equipment, such as MRI, to visualize the area and guide the needle to the correct location to obtain the sample without surgery. In some cases, a surgical biopsy may be necessary.

Ultrasound
A breast ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to create a live image of the breast and its underlying tissue. The ultrasound images help a physician determine if a suspicious mass is solid (potentially cancerous) or fluid filled (likely a benign cyst).
