How do I connect to the free network at Sutter Delta?

Check to make sure your wireless software and card are properly installed, turned on your computer. Set your wireless card to connect to SHGuestNet or simply right click on your "Wireless Found Alert" connect by left clicking on the SHGuestNet.

  • Set you SSID to SHGuestNet. (Note: Wireless software terms for SSID may vary. ESSID network name, wireless network name and network identifier, are all terms for SSID). Refer to your wireless Internet card instructions for details and make sure you software is running when you attempt to set you SSID. In many cases, setting the SSID to any or any will also work and will permit connection to any available wireless network. (Some find this a very practical SSID setting, since they don't have to set a different SSID for each wireless network they use.)

  • Make sure that WEP Encryption (wireless encryption protocol) is DISABLED (or OFF).

  • Check that the connection is configured for INFRASTRUCTURE mode. (Ad-Hoc mode will not work.)

  • If you made any changes in steps 2 through 4 above, RESTART (or REBOOT) your computer and web browser.

    What tools do I need?
You must have your own laptop or notebook computer, or a personal digital assistant (PDA) equipped with a standard Internet browser and a Internet compliant (802.11b) wireless Ethernet card. In most cases, the card will be installed in the PCMCIA slot on the side of the computer and will be loaded with preloaded software.
