    History

Rich in history and community spirit, Sutter Delta Medical Center started caring for patients in the 1930s in a small house called Antioch Community Hospital, which served patients for over 30 years. In the early 1960's, a dedicated group of physicians, community leaders and hospital employees raised over $650,000.00 to build a new 53-bed facility called Delta Memorial Hospital which opened on the present site in February 1967. In 1989, Sutter Delta doubled in size to 111 beds, and added a nursing tower, lobby and cafeteria as well as an adjoining medical office building. In addition, Delta Memorial Hospital affiliated with Sutter Health, the largest not-for-profit healthcare system in California, in 1990. In 1996, Delta Memorial Hospital officially changed its name to Sutter Delta Medical Center to reflect not only our affiliation with Sutter Health, but also our expanded capacity and services.

Sutter Delta Medical Center is close to where you live in the convenient affordable community of Antioch. Sutter Delta has the medical services and information you need - close to home and easy to find. Residents and families depend on Sutter Delta for its many inpatient, outpatient and emergency services. Inpatient services include medical/surgical, pediatrics, obstetrics, women's medicine, medical telemetry and intensive care. Other services include 24-hour emergency care, physical and sports therapy, and a full-service laboratory. Medical and diagnostic imaging services include CT, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, lithotripsy, MRI, mammography and the Victor and Elma Parachini Cardiac Catherization Laboratory. The Ambulatory Services Building which opened in May of 1999 facilitates all out-patient services at Sutter Delta as well as in-patient, out-patient and same day surgeries.

Our medical staff proudly numbers more than 200 physicians. Most physicians are board certified and have advanced training in their specialties. In addition, Sutter Delta is one of the area's largest employers with over 600 employees and boasts a volunteer staff of more than 150 dedicated, active community members.
